NORWOOD – A woman is on the hunt for the stranger who helped her survive a frightening accident earlier this week.
Cutting through the chaos, there was a voice, calm and kind. “My name is Ron. I will stay with you…”
Karen McCarthy couldn’t get out of her car after being hit by an oncoming vehicle on Monday, but someone good found a way in to help her.
“It’s terrifying to be in an accident for the first time. I was stuck inside the vehicle because my car was stuck against the telephone pole (on Sumner Street). A stranger opened the trunk and crawled into my car through the backseat.” she remembers.
He stayed until help arrived. After an ambulance ride to the hospital, Karen realized she had never seen Ron’s face. So she posted on Facebook hoping to thank him. Now there are several hundred likes and comments, Norwood neighbors edified by this man’s kindness.
“I think it’s a good reminder that we’re all human beings and we still care about each other. There’s nothing wrong with stopping to help each other. We’re still like that . We still have this ability to take care of each other. . Ron did that,” she said.
Karen can only remember that he mentioned he was a paramedic or EMT on leave or retirement. But it was more than a practice. And she won’t forget it.
“I really appreciate it. Thank you very much,” Karen said sincerely.
