Why Adam Devine decided to speak out amid the Adam Levine scandal

When Adam Devin received hundreds of hateful messages last year, it made him wonder.

Amid Adam Levineinfidelity scandal last September, the Workaholic the star shared a message on social media explaining that he was not, in fact, the singer at the center of the allegations. As Devine recently explained, her public joke only came after a big case of mistaken identity.

“I would never — I’m not good at inserting myself into someone else’s drama,” he said on the Feb. 8 episode of call her daddy. “I’m like, ‘This guy’s been there before.’ And so, I was on the sidelines.”

But that all changed, as Devine noted, when a title included her name instead of Brown 5 leader in reference to the situation.

“I was getting so many people DMing me saying, ‘How the fuck dare you?'” he continued. “And then you look at their page and I’m like, ‘This person isn’t following me. They have no idea. They are not Workaholic Fans. They haven’t seen my movies, they were really Maroon 5 fans and now they accidentally hate me…’ I was legitimately getting hundreds of DMs.”
