MARRIED At First Sight is back and better than ever.
But think back to the 2021 series and you’ll remember the charming Daniel McKee.
Who is Daniel from Married at First Sight?
Daniel McKee is a 28-year-old wellness guru, who rose to fame on Married At First Sight.
While appearing on the show, the Northern Ireland native said it was ‘amazing’ to be half of the UK show’s first gay couple.
He describes himself as a person with a passion for hiking, meditation and swimming in cold water.
You can follow Daniel on Instagram @danielmckeee where he has nearly 120,000 followers (as of August 2022).
What happened to Daniel in Married at First Sight?
Daniel appeared on MAFS UK 2021 and was part of the show’s first-ever same-sex couple.
Speaking on the first episode of Married At First Sight, Daniel said: “Gay marriage has only recently been legalized in Northern Ireland which is absolutely shocking.
“And, now that I can share my relationship with the world, I find that so important.”
Daniel was paired with Matthew Jameson from West Yorkshire, who was 39 at the time.
The pair were an instant hit and on the show’s final episode, they decided to stay together.
What is Daniel doing now?
Good news – Daniel and Matthew are still a couple and live together in Northern Ireland, where they are hosting a meditation and wellness retreat.
Speaking about life after the show, Daniel told Belfast Live in July 2022: “[The show] was a real whirlwind adventure. I went there with real intentions of finding someone I could spend the rest of my life with and voila, it worked as I hoped, if not better.
“The whole process was truly utter awe and it was inspiring to be a part of it.
“I made friends through the trip and obviously met my husband, Matthew, who also lives in Portstewart with me.
“He moved from Leeds to live here on the Causeway Coast and we run Wildbay Retreats together.
“It’s my business, but Matthew is a big part of it. He’s definitely a force within the business.
“[They are] all-inclusive meditation and wellness retreats… It’s an opportunity for people to come together and experience, learn and implement techniques that allow them to have some peace and inner peace.”
