He is also a graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.

He became president of CBS in February 2016 and was considered one of the highest paid directors at the time, earning $68.4 million in 2017.

However, he was fired in September 2018, following a number of allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault and abuse.

In an article published by The New Yorker, six women accused Moonves of harassment and intimidation.

In 2018, CBS announced that it would deny Moonves his $120 million severance package because their investigation found he had violated his contract.

In February 2019, he reportedly founded his own company called Moon Rise Unlimited in West Hollywood, California.

Were the Moonves fired from CBS?

Moonves was fired from CBS in 2018 after handling sexual harassment complaints in the workplace for 30 years.

The news came at the height of the #MeToo era as Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby faced jail time for sexual assault allegations against them.

At least 12 women accused Moonves of sexual assault and allegedly demanded oral sex and other types of sexual acts.

They claimed he threatened their careers if they did not comply, according to The New York Times.

CBS accused Moonves of withholding complaints before letting him go and although he initially challenged their decision, in 2021 he agreed to walk away for his $120 million exit package.

The company officially confirmed that Moonves was fired in December 2018, citing: “wilful and material misconduct, violation of company policies and breach of his employment contract”.

The company eventually faced a class action lawsuit over the misconduct allegations and was forced to settle for a $14.75 million payout.

Paramount and Moonves were also ordered to pay a total of $9.75 million, in addition to the $14.75 million, to shareholders to close the attorney general’s investigation into the sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Paramount would pay $7.25 million of the amount while Moonves will have to pay the remaining $2.5 million.

In a statement, Paramount confirmed it had reached an agreement, but admitted no wrongdoing.

“The case involved alleged misconduct by the former CEO of CBS, who was terminated for cause in 2018, and has no connection to the current company,” the statement said.

The final agreement will be sent to New York Attorney General Letitia James for approval in preparation for finalization.

Are Julie Chen Moonves and Les Moonves still together?

Moonves and Chen Moonves reportedly began dating in 2004, when his divorce from first wife Nancy Wiesenfeld had yet to be finalized.

The couple married in a private ceremony in Mexico in December of that year and now live in Beverly Hills, California.

Although they had been married for more than a decade, Chen Moonves only changed her last name 12 years after their marriage.

“When I married my husband, I chose not to take the name because I thought it might be considered an unfair advantage,” she told Deadline.

“It was a powerful and popular name to have. And I had made my own career before I knew it. So I wanted to keep that.

After her husband quit CBS following the sexual misconduct allegations, she said now seemed like a good time to stand by his side.

“When his name was dragged through the mud, I thought it was time to take a stand and let the world know who I am,” Chen Moonves said.

“And that was a sign of support for my husband. I know him. And he’s a good man.”

She admitted that she didn’t tell anyone she was making the switch until she signed out of Big Brother using her new last name, Chen Moonves.

“I made the switch on the fly during a live show on the spur of the moment,” she explained. “I didn’t tell anyone.

“I was playing with it, and I remember my heart racing as I thought, ‘Am I going to do this?’ It just became a moment.
