Elanga was an extremely exciting talent in the Under-18s and Under-23s and contributed three goals in last season’s EFL Trophy.

Discussing his plans for Elanga in the preseason, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “It would be easy to say the boy should be on loan, but he’s doing so well.

“He’s electric, his pace, his skills, he’s not afraid of anything and he has the courage and bravery of a Man United player and today he created opportunities for others and for himself- same, and scored a good goal with his toughest opportunity.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he stayed here. It depends, we know it’s important for him to develop and to have playing time, at the moment he’s one of those that we haven’t really decided on.

“If he continues as he is, I might want to keep him.”

Speaking ahead of the clash with West Ham, Solskjaer added: “Anthony was great in the preseason – his attitude, his enthusiasm, his frankness. I love to see players like that.

“He was disappointed not to go to West Ham [for Sunday’s Premier League game] but he scored for the under 23 and now he’s ready. He will be involved in the team.

It certainly looks like the 19-year-old has an incredibly bright future ahead of him at Old Trafford.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly assesses the striker and that is why he is integrated into the first team this season.

He’s certainly a star for the future, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the player go on loan before too long given the enviable attacking talent of the first team at the moment.
