Jake Paul and Tommy Fury will finally settle their differences on December 18 as their rivalry has lasted for nearly a year.
YouTuber turned professional boxer Paul is now 4-0 inside a boxing ring and has three knockouts to his name. Although he faced decorated athletes, none of his opponents had ever boxed professionally before facing him.
Fury is 7-0 with four knockouts to his name, but his list of opponents totaled 176 losses between them before facing Fury.
Not only had he not faced anyone of true pedigree, but he didn’t look his best when he beat Paul’s training partner Anthony Taylor on points last time around.
The origins of the Fury and Paul feud actually lie with Tommy’s older brother, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
After Tommy claimed a victory over Scott Williams in London, Tyson shared a supportive meme and then a post celebrating his brother’s reach.
He posted a screenshot of the “audience figures” which suggested Tommy’s fight was watched by 1.9 million viewers while all other matches barely passed 100,000 views on the same night.
However, the screenshot turned out to be a fake and Jake Paul took the opportunity to mock Tyson for sharing the fraudulent information.
In response, Tyson then challenged Jake to fight Tommy – and the two reality stars found themselves embroiled in online threats to each other.
Then, in May, Jake dealt Tommy a low blow by claiming that Molly-Mae Hague, 22, Tommy’s partner, sent him a direct message on Instagram.
Jake claimed Molly-Mae messaged him in October 2018, writing, “He could be coming to America later this year and I’ve always been a fan of your videos.
“Maybe you can show me around?” With a white heart emoji and a face licking his emoji lips too.
Hague denounced the post as bogus and proved it by pointing out that the white-hearted emoji featured in the post was not even active until three months before the alleged message was sent.
Following this, the Fury brothers posted a video in which Tyson and Tommy threatened Paul as they searched for him in Miami.
In August Paul fought Tyron Woodley and on the same card Fury fought Taylor, a man who has been a constant at Paul’s training camps.
The pair will emerge victorious from the night, but after the event they faced off behind the scenes in a scrum that included around 40 men.
“They are not fighters,” Fury explained after the incident.
“I mean I didn’t look back at him, but I was ready to throw my hands up here and there. This man is all in front of the cameras but he doesn’t understand that me and my team are going to go – now.
“We don’t care how many of you there are, we’re going to get stuck. So he can really count his blessings in the hallway.
“Forty members of his security team broke up because the man can’t fight, the man can’t fight at all. Imagine him in a street fight? Please, he wouldn’t last three seconds.
“If he hadn’t had his security team with him, he wouldn’t even have… he would have walked right past me,” Fury added.
“Jake Paul has nothing in him and I see him in that hallway right now.
“There was a moment in that hallway at that point where everything was going between his security, my team and his team and it was just me and him, and I looked dead in his soul. . And when those cameras aren’t there, he doesn’t want to know.
The next blow came when Paul responded to Tommy’s partying social media posts. Fury was seen shirtless and gesturing to a crowd of students as he stood in the VIP area while partying in the UK and Paul took the opportunity to poke fun at the youngster 21 years old.
“Molly-Mae Haugue, come get your boys,” with a vomit emoji.
He then said: “Closest friends, coaches, teammates – if I’m ever at a club, shirtless, at a table all by myself like that, someone immediately takes me out of this fucking club.”
Once it finally emerged that the two were interested in negotiating a deal to fight, Fury reportedly turned down a $ 1 million offer from Paul for the fight to take place and at this point Paul told talkSPORT that he ‘he thought the fight was over.
Fury and his father, John, both said they believed a fight of this magnitude was worth much more to them, despite the obvious record salary of $ 1 million.
While we don’t know for sure how much more money for the two men now that the fight has been arranged, we do know that Paul will give Fury $ 500,000 from his purse if Fury wins, but if Paul wins, Fury has to change his name to Tommy Fumbles. It is believed to be a handshake deal.
Then, finally, we got John Fury to lose his temper at this week’s press conference. Patriarch Fury clashed on TV telling Paul that there was no way he could beat his son.
The time to speak is almost up and someone’s zero must go.
