LUKASZ FABIANSKI is in talks on a new deal with West Ham – and says he could still play at 40.

The goalkeeper is in the final year of his London Stadium contract, but he hopes to agree to the terms until 2023.

Fabianski, 36, said: “The Premier League is the height of a footballer’s dream. I feel good enough to play a bit more here.

“I’m going to judge this step by step, but looking at Artur Boruc or other goalkeepers you can play successfully up to 40 years old.

“As far as I know, there have been preliminary discussions going on.

“I hope that we will calmly arrive at a good solution for both parties.

“It’s not just West Ham’s policy that players of a certain age stretch from season to season.

“It’s a logical solution for many reasons. It’s a kind of risk minimization.

“Of course, the most important in all of this is the level of health and sport.

“If I can handle these aspects, I have no problem extending the contract.

Fabianski is likely not to take part in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup visit to Manchester City, with MP Alphonse Areola, 28, playing in cup competitions this season.

The former Arsenal man said his farewell to international football earlier this month in Poland’s 5-0 win over San Marino.

He received a standing ovation from fans as he was substituted just before the hour mark, with the player reduced to tears as he stepped off the pitch.

His former Gunners and Poland teammate greeted Fabianski after the game in an Instagram post.

Szczesny said: “Lukasz, our long journey together… you once, me once, and so on, but today is yours alone.

“And while your modesty won’t let you admit it, know that you were special for this team, just as competing with you was special for me.

“Thank you for every moment we spent together and for your motivation to work hard! “
