Sandown Betting Tips

3.05: Command of the Duke 13/8 (1pt)

It’s a huge price to pay early for this Godolphin horse who cost the owners 1,600,000gns, which is extremely high and should have great chances under the guidance of in-form jockey James Doyle.

He has ridden 11 winners from just 33 races over the past two weeks and has a real chance of adding a few more at this busy meeting.

3.40: Knight 3/1 (1pt)

As far as races listed go, this one is incredibly competitive and has some top-notch horses entered in it.

Soft ground is the important factor here, potentially paramount for some horses who would generally win if it was good or firm.

Chindit stands out after his big win at Haydock just 11 days before this race and that was ahead of the highly regarded Light Infantry.

But the horse has often been put behind when the ground was soft and we cannot therefore take the risk of siding this time.

Knight is good in the weights and is in good form on the softs, including in Group 2 company last time behind Angel Bleu, he also gets the weight allowance for being three years old and with Doyle on board once again, he leads the field as favorite. .

Eydon is also intriguing, making his first start under Andrew Balding and it has taken time for this promising Group 1 runner to return after 508 days of absence. He might need to run and that would explain his high price.

That being said, if the market follows it that day, you shouldn’t be opposed to two bets that day with that tip and Eydon each way as insurance.

But the many factors in Knight’s favor, including first-time cheeks, suggest he should be backed at that sweet 3/1 price.

Yarmouth Betting Tips

3.45: Al Asifah 11/10 (2pts)

It’s Shadwell’s colors teaming up with Jim Crowley again and he needs a winner.

The Frankel filly took a surprising sixth place, more than eight lengths behind the winner at Royal Ascot last time out, but if she returns to song today, particularly against an arguably weaker field, she should be very difficult to beat.

Her first two starts this season saw her win by almost five lengths and over six lengths in listed company next time, and this form has worked quite well given that deficit, and she is keener to return in travel to his favorite 1m2f.
