Hardware season is in full swing, and now is Google’s time to shine. The company has made a habit of showing its hand months in advance, and we’ve already gotten a pretty good look at the two headliners. The former is the latest addition to the Pixel smartwatch lineup. Look for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro to continue the progress made by last year’s Pixel 6.
But the real story is almost certainly the Pixel Watch, Google’s long-awaited entry into the smartwatch space. The company certainly has a solid foundation for the first-gen device, including years of Wear OS updates and, of course, its big Fossil IP and Fitbit acquisitions. But the device will really have to make room after years of tenuous portable involvement.
We’ve already heard from Nest this week, as the company announced a new doorbell, WiFi router and Home app updates. Given the big Matter news that has come alongside, however, it seems like a pretty safe bet that we’ll also be catching more smart home stuff today, as well as a better look at the Pixel tablet from the Apple. ‘next year. Some additional software news also seems likely, as Google.
