The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) gave the public a preview of the design of a sixth-generation aircraft in a video released on Tuesday. In footage posted to Chinese social media, an aircraft with a similar appearance to the Chengdu J-20, China’s current stealth fighter, scrolls across the screen. However, it lacked the tail fins and jet canards and had a more blended and flowing body that looked almost organic. The video also includes other Chinese jets, including the JH-7, members of the Su-27 family, an H-6, drones and a Y-20 transport. It is not the first time that images of an advanced Chinese aircraft have been shown. Images of the H-20 stealth bomber currently in preparation appeared on Weibo last August, although the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) teased a glimpse of the plane – under a tarp of course – in a promotional video from January 2021. According to the report, the plane’s sleek, tailless design will give it superior stealth capability to current fifth-generation fighters, such as China’s J-20, Su -57 and the American F-22 and F-35 planes. The design would also give it a longer range and greater power efficiency. While “generations” of aircraft is not a firmly defined or universally accepted method of categorization, many who refer to “sixth generation” aircraft generally imply that the aircraft will have advanced new technologies that one does not even see in the most advanced jets currently in service, such as lasers or directed energy weapons, adaptive engines, hypersonic weapon capabilities and the incorporation of AI, including the ability to fly without pilot. These planes are also supposed to be made of advanced composite materials.

A Chinese defense firm has offered the public a glimpse of a future sixth-generation fighter jet likely to be in the works. Even with only a handful of countries able to field advanced fifth-generation stealth fighters, designers are pushing ahead with even more advanced aircraft, incorporating AI and other new technologies.

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) gave the public a preview of the design of a sixth-generation aircraft in a video released on Tuesday.

In images posted on Chinese social media, a plane with a similar appearance to the Chengdu J-20, China’s current stealth fighter, scrolls across the screen. However, the jet lacked tail fins and canards and had a more blended, flowing body that seemed almost organic.

The video also includes other Chinese jets, including the JH-7, members of the Su-27 familyan H-6 bomber, drones and a Y-20 transport.

The image resembled concepts shown by Western planners for a sixth-generation fighter, like the US Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance. (NGAD) program and the European Project storm. It also largely resembled a sixth-generation concept model that appeared at the Zhuhai Air Show last November, which had sharper angles than the computer-generated model seen earlier this week.

It is not the first time that images of an advanced Chinese aircraft have been shown. Pictures of the H-20 stealth bomber currently under construction appeared on Weibo last August, although the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) teased preview of the jet – under a tarp of course – in a promotional video from January 2021.

A day after the video was released, the Chinese daily Global Times published a report containing interviews with several Chinese military aviation experts. One of them, Fu Qianshao, confirmed that the project was in progress and that the Chinese designers were convinced that the final product would surpass any competing American design.

China is replacing aging fighter jets with advanced J-16s in all five theater orders, report says

According to the report, the plane’s slick, tailless design will give it greater stealth capability than current fifth-generation fighters, such as China’s J-20, Russia’s Su-57, and F-22 and F-22 aircraft. 35 Americans. The design would also give it longer battery life and greater fuel efficiency.

Although “generations” of aircraft are not a firmly defined or universally accepted method of categorization, many who refer to “sixth generation“Aircraft generally implies that the aircraft will have advanced new technologies not even seen in the most advanced jets currently in service, such as lasers or directed energy weapons, adaptive engines, hypersonic weapons and the incorporation of AI, including the option to fly unmanned. These aircraft are also believed to be made of advanced composite materials.
