Between-two-laps, day 7: final sprint for Macron and Le Pen

Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen begin a final week of campaigning on Monday which will be marked by a high-risk televised debate for the two candidates, before the final clash in the second round of the French presidential election on April 24. One week before the election, nothing is decided, even if the latest polls give the outgoing president winning between 53 and 55.5% against his far-right rival. A much tighter duel than in 2017 when Emmanuel Macron was elected with 66% of the vote. The challenge of the second round is to convince the undecided and the abstainers who were in the first round more than 26%. And particularly to mobilize the electorate of the left, arbiter of this duel at loggerheads. [Plus d’infos]
