Virginia Giuffre’s team accuses Prince Andrew of ‘blaming the victim’ and pledges to expose him in court

Virginia Giuffre’s lawyers have hit back at Prince Andrew for appearing to blame her for the abuse she suffered as a teenager, and say they are looking forward to ‘confronting’ him in court.

Prince Andrew’s lawyer Andrew Brettler has demanded a ‘jury trial’ in a defiant letter to Judge Lewis Kaplan over allegations he sexually assaulted Ms Giuffre when she was 17.

Ms Giuffre alleges in a civil lawsuit that she suffered emotional damage and physical injury after she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein and ordered to have sex with Andrew three times in 2001.

Andrew denied all of Ms Giuffre’s claims in an 11-page letter to the court on Wednesday and claimed Ms Giuffre’s “misconduct” would be a central part of her defence.

In a statement to The Independent, Ms Giuffre’s lawyer, David Boies, said: ‘Prince Andrew’s response continues his approach of denying any knowledge or information regarding the allegations against him and claiming to blame the abuse victim for having him caused in one way or another.

“We look forward to confronting Prince Andrew with his denials and attempts to blame Ms Giuffre for his own abuses during his testimony and trial.”

A trial is now expected to take place in New York in September or October.
