Video shows college football fans in Florida rescuing cat as it fell from top deck

The biggest game of the game between the University of Miami and Appalachian State on Saturday night took place in the stands, where soccer spectators banded together to save a feline fan.

A video from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens showed the cat hanging from an upper deck where it was apparently clinging by its claws to some type of cloth on the railing. At least one person leaned over to help him, but the cat fell onto the seats below.

Luckily, the keeled kitten was caught by fans holding an American flag as a makeshift rescue tarp.

The flag belonged to season ticket holder Craig Cromer and his wife, Kimberly, NBC Miami reported. Cromer, a facilities manager at the University of Miami, told the station that he and his wife untied their flag from the railing when they saw the feline hanging above them.

“They were trying to grab him from above and they couldn’t reach him, but they scared him from the bottom,” Cromer said. “He just stood there for a little while with his two front paws, then one paw, and then I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s coming soon.'”

Several videos of the incident were captured and shared online, showing a stadium filled with fans riveted by the ordeal. Cheers erupted once the cat appeared to be safely rescued and the game was a win for Miami.
