SHREVEPORT, La. — There is an alarming increase in carjackings this week. And the police say they could all be related.
Since Monday morning, at least four such crimes have been reported.
The first happened shortly after 7am Monday on Penick near Jewella. Then about 90 minutes later another on Pierremont Place near Fern.
On Tuesday evening, another carjacking was reported in North Hearne near Forum. Then early Wednesday around 2:30 a.m., a woman was the victim of a carjacking outside her home in Hollywood near Bethume.
“The gun was in front of me. So I knew there was nothing I could do. So I just backed up, tried to get away from the gun,” Kathaleen Shepard said.
Shepard says she was scared but knew how to cooperate with the perpetrators.
“They were just waving a gun. So I just stepped back and just put my hand up to say I’m not trying to do anything. Just take what you have to take,” he said. Shepard said.
She says two young black men in dark clothing and masks came out of the bushes as she got out of her SUV. The green 2016 Toyota Highlander was found shortly after in the Hearne and Regent area, where it was destroyed and wrecked.
In the case of the Pierremont Place subdivision, Facebook conversations from people who follow police activities indicate that a housekeeper was followed to the closed Fern Avenue neighborhood, where she was victimized. carjacking.
According to police, in all four cases, the suspects are described as two black men with at least one firearm.
