Boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya and UFC president Dana White swapped words on social media after Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega battled for the lightweight title.
De La Hoya praised Volkanovski for defeating Ortega by unanimous decision at UFC 266 and called on White for allegedly failing to pay fighters what the “Golden Boy” thinks they are worth.

“Hey @alexvolkanovski you just won a brutal battle for @ufc and won 1/20 of what you are worth. @Danawhite has a fucking respect for yourself and these fighters and pay these warriors what they deserve “, De La Hoya wrote.
White, who is never afraid of anyone who comes after him, hit back at De La Hoya.

“STFU U crack head. If you pretend you have Covid and deny me watching you get KTFO by @vitorbelfort, you should win an academy award for your performance in the hospital,” White wrote referring to De La Hoya who gave up his fight against Vitor Belfort earlier this month due to COVID.
The two seemed to end the battle right there.
White has regularly rebuffed criticism of the wages of his company’s fighters. He did so no later than August 30 in an interview on the “Tough Business” podcast.

“What happens is when you build something great, and I say it all the time, whenever you build something great, it’s always surrounded by negativity. When you’re in a business like us, the level of bastards that are in the media, it’s inexplicable. I mean it’s going on right now, you’ve got these bastards out there who know nothing about business, telling all the fighters, ‘oh you are all underpaid, you are not paid enough ‘… every member of the media who talks about the pay of fighters is a bastard, “White said at the time.
