UEFA Champions League teams: the 32 participating clubs for 2021-2022

A total of 32 teams participate in the 2021-2022 UEFA Champions League with the dream of winning the most prestigious trophy in professional club football.

English power Chelsea is the defending champion, and a host of contenders will be looking to knock the Blues off that perch. french side Paris Saint Germain, Germany Bayern Munich and finalists 2021 Manchester city are considered favorites by bookmakers.

The tournament begins with a group stage (eight groups of four teams each), and only the top two teams from each group qualify for the round of 16 which begins in February 2022. Round-of-16 round trips are played. the rest of the way until the One-Time Final on May 28, 2022.

For the first time since 1965, no away goal breaker will be used in the round of 16 in UEFA competitions, including the Champions League, after its abolition in June 2021. Tied series goals accumulated after the conclusion of the second leg will go directly to extra time and, if necessary, to penalties.
