MINSK (Sputnik) – The US embassy in Belarus had to further reduce its staff at Minsk’s request, the diplomatic mission said.

“More US diplomats had to leave #Belarus today due to the regime’s unfortunate decision to limit engagement and dialogue. Whether in Minsk or elsewhere, US diplomats will continue to support the democratic aspirations of the people Belarusian. #StandwithBelarus, “the embassy tweeted.

Earlier in August, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry proposed that the United States reduce the number of its embassies to five people by September 1.
