Sometimes the familiar comfort of a low-stakes rom-com is all you want – and The Lovers delivers just that. Roisin Gallagher is brilliant as Janet, a depressed and talkative supermarket worker from Belfast, who, in a ridiculously cute encounter, finds the narcissistic political TV star Seamus (Johnny Flynn) in her garden. They’re worlds apart but – as you might have guessed – that just might make them a perfect pair, even if Seamus has a famous girlfriend… Although this six-parter isn’t quite as enchanting as Starstruck, its the BBC, all the right ingredients are there. here for a modern and dynamic love story. After being nominated for a record fifth time, will Arctic Monkeys win a second Mercury Prize? Other 12 artists and bands to beat include infectious jazzy Ezra Collective, nu-disco queen Jessie Ware and former winners Young Fathers. Lauren Laverne will announce the winner at the Apollo ceremony. HOUR

Sort out your life with Stacey Solomon

One for Collectors: Solomon and his team of human Wombles attempt to declutter families’ homes by arranging each item in a warehouse and asking them to recycle, donate, or sell. This week, the Watlings are getting some tough love treatment. Items include 459 books and 39 unopened travel-size jam jars. Ali Catterall

The first of O’Grady’s last recorded episodes at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home before his sudden death earlier this year, making it even more of an emotional adventure (“There’s something about this place that means I can’t not prevent me from coming back”). He meets a Lurcher puppy with a puzzling illness and a Yorkshire terrier with bad breath. HOUR

Behavior expert Maria Gentles travels to Beacon Hill Academy in the West Midlands, where she meets two teenage girls struggling at school. Jayliyah feels she is on her last chance after being kicked out of two other institutions, but she still has issues with authority. Taylor is overcome with a bad mood after a series of family upheavals. Katie Rosseinsky

Someone telling their partner “I can’t commit to freeing you from suffering” is a sign that the finale of an extraordinary reality show is still so busy. But it’s also cathartic, a reward for viewers for making it this far. This includes one of the healthiest breakups you’ve ever seen. Jack Seale
