Tucker Carlson makes Tucker-est statement on Bolsonaro’s election defeat in Brazil

Different election, same Tucker Carlson.

The Fox News host, who here amplified the baseless cries of his 2020 voter fraud ring, is now casting doubt on Lula da Silva’s victory over incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil’s presidential election. (Watch the video below.)

In “Tucker Carlson Tonight” on Tuesday, the host first reported that Bolsonaro, the far-right COVID downplayer, like Trump, was “narrowly defeated by his far-left criminal opponent, Lula da Silva.” .

But then the conservative cable’s prime-time face made a predictable about-face, saying “the election is still in play” and “there are questions.”

Da Silva was declared the winner. There’s no “ongoing,” but that didn’t stop Carlson from giving air to cries of cheating on behalf of a far-right candidate.

Bolsonaro allowed the transition to begin but did not concede. Ahead of the election, he suggested the left was trying to fix the outcome, The New York Times reported.

Carlson seemed to think that because Bolsonaro failed to acknowledge his loss, the results were subject to speculation. Carlson said some say not all votes were counted and launched a screed against YouTube for banning false claims (after coming under fire for not doing enough to stop disinformation from Bolsonaro supporters).

“Well, wait a second,” Carlson said, frowning. “The election is still ongoing. The holder did not give in. How do you know the statements are, in quotes, false? Well, of course you don’t. You take sides and use censorship to cement the results in place. It’s propaganda. YouTube interferes in a democratic election in a sovereign country. How is this allowed?
