The former president has held seven rallies since his defeat in the 2020 election, although he still has not confirmed rumors he is planning another race in 2024, only vaguely hinting at it. His speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in 2021 showed that the ex-POTUS still holds a prominent place within the GOP.

Former US President Donald Trump announced plans to hold more rallies in Iowa and Georgia in the coming weeks in an interview for the Todd Starnes radio show.

“We’re going to Iowa, we’re going to Georgia, we’re going to others. You have to see the anger and the enthusiasm, by the way, the anger of the people,” Trump said.

The ex-POTUS spoke of the rallies, arguing that Americans are angry with the policies of the current administration, in particular its handling of the evacuation from Afghanistan. Trump lambasted the Biden administration for abandoning billions of dollars in equipment in the country for the use of the Taliban *, and allegedly provided, among other things, a list of Afghans assisting NATO.

“In the history of the world, there has never been a withdrawal as stupid as the one we experienced in Afghanistan. And it has made our country weak and stupid,” said ex-POTUS.

In his interview, the former president mentioned a variety of policies from Democratic government officials and lawmakers that he might address at his next rallies. He notably criticized Biden’s border policy, which Republicans say has resulted in an increase in illegal migrant crossings over the southern border.

Trump also condemned Democrats’ plans for infrastructure reform and plans to change voting rights and rules for all states. The former president alleged that Democratic politicians, in fact, “hated” the United States, but said he struggled to understand why.

“I think [these politicians] are worse than Democrats. I think they are communists, if you want to know the truth, because I really think they hate our country. Our country cannot go on like this, ”Trump said.

The former president also criticized the conduct of his fellow Republicans in Congress, arguing that they lack the unity of the Democrats. Trump suggested that if GOP lawmakers had had it, they would have stopped the opposing side’s efforts to pass infrastructure reform bills even without a majority – using the debt ceiling limit. The United States is required to exceed this limit with the new major spending programs underway, and Democrats would need GOP votes in order to suspend the limit or increase it permanently.

Trump lost the 2020 election to Biden, but repeatedly insisted Democrats “rig” them. However, he did not defend these allegations in court. Trump has yet to announce whether or not he will run again in 2024, but has hinted at the possibility several times since leaving the White House. The former president also enjoys a high level of support among GOP voters, as well as within the party itself, acting as a de facto leader.
