Around sixty professional branches offer salaries below the minimum wage. To respond to this situation, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne asked them, Monday October 16, to review their salary scales before June 1.

Medical analysis laboratories, leisure parks, funeral directors… These professional branches are in the sights of unions and the government. The lowest salaries in these sectors are below the minimum wage, while inflation persists. Around sixty branches are concerned, notably construction trading companies.

Employees hired below the minimum wage

A wood professional based in the Paris region, Philippe Prouteau, for his part, chose to hire above the minimum wage within Miele et cie. Issa Glubogio, forklift driver, was hired at 1,700 euros net a month ago, compared to 1,500 euros in his former company. “A year later, I should normally have 1,800 euros. I argued, it didn’t work”, he confides. Philippe Prouteau thus wishes to retain his employees. Monday October 16, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne asks these companies to reassess their salary scales by June 1, but the unions expected more.
