The Spurs head coach was hopeful Hojbjerg would be able to train on Friday after missing Denmark’s two World Cup qualifiers, likely leaving a place in midfield for either Tanguy Ndombele or Skipp. Conte was unsure of Lo Celso, who returned to the club with a hit on Thursday.
Until Ndombele can show he is capable of playing Conte’s highly structured possession play, Harry Winks may be the preferred option in midfield.
Cristian Romero will definitely miss the game with hamstring tension contracted in Argentina’s 0-0 draw against Brazil on Tuesday night, so Davinson Sanchez, Japhet Tanganga and Joe Rodon are all hoping to replace them.
Sanchez is the more experienced option, which can give him the advantage of starting on the right of the bottom three.
Elsewhere, Conte is expected to stay with the players who started his first two games in charge, although he has more options after Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil return to training.
Tottenham probable XI (3-4-3): Lloris; Sanchez, Dier, Davies; Royal, Hojbjerg, Winks, Reguilon; Lucas, son, Kane.
