A worrying knock for Rodrigo Bentancur has put the midfielder in a race against time for the Premier League restart on Boxing Day.

Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon are also being watched ahead of the game with Brentford, while Heung-min Son is not yet fully over the effects of his facial surgery.

Rodrigo Bentancur

A thigh injury forced the Uruguayan to withdraw from his country’s last World Cup game on December 2.

Reports have suggested a three-week delay for Bentancur’s return, making him a doubt for the Brentford game.

Heung Min Son

South Korean star Son is expected to return to Tottenham training on Tuesday and will continue to wear a face mask as he seeks to protect the injury he suffered against Marseille.

The winger said last week: “I think I should come back as soon as possible and I will have to play with my mask on.”

Ben Davis

A stomach muscle injury forced Davies to retire in Wales’ World Cup defeat to England on 29 November.

It has been reported that a four-week spell on the sidelines is needed for the defender to return to action. After missing the Motherwell game, he is doubtful for the Brentford clash.

Ryan Sessegnon

Another absentee against Motherwell, alongside Lucas Moura, Emerson Royal, Clement Lenglet and Fraser Forster who had knocks according to football.london, Sessegnon suffers from a minor hamstring injury.

He should be in contention against Brentford, if not sooner for Nice’s friendly.
