The striker was sent off in Spurs’ dramatic Champions League win over Marseille on Wednesday night and was pictured in the dressing room after struggling to get a shut eye.
Spurs have not set a deadline for his return, but with South Korea taking on Uruguay in the World Cup on November 24, the 30-year-old’s participation is now in serious doubt.
A statement from Spurs read: “We can confirm that Heung-Min Son will undergo surgery to stabilize a fracture around his left eye.
“The South Korean international picked up the injury in the first half of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League win over Olympique de Marseille.
“After the operation, Son will begin his rehabilitation with our medical staff and we will update the supporters in due course.”
Tottenham are already without Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski and face Liverpool on Saturday in a massive Premier League clash.
