Ottenham are set to sign Villarreal striker Arnaut Danjuma on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old was set to join Everton in a similar deal, having agreed terms and reportedly even undergoing a medical.
But Spurs sensed an opportunity and managed to get going with an offer in the 11th hour. Danjuma is now on his way to London to undergo a medical at the club’s training base.
Conte is keen to strengthen his options at the start of the second half of the season. The manager called Monday night’s much-needed victory at Fulham a ‘starting point’.
“I was happy with the performance of the last few games but we had two defeats, against Arsenal and Manchester City. Today must be a starting point for us to give our all and then we will see what happens in the end.
“We have to try to stay in the race for the Champions League and try to get to the next round of the FA Cup. It was important to talk over the last few days and explain the situation. Compared to last season, we kept scoring goals, but conceding 21 goals in 10 games was not positive. But I’m happy with the response.”
