The decision comes just weeks before he leads his country against England in the Ashes Down Under.

Paine took over from the shameful Steve Smith in 2018 when the former skipper got caught up in the ball tampering controversy.
But now he has quit amid backlash over his conduct towards a then colleague at Cricket Tasmania in 2007.
Paine, now 36, sent the woman an unsolicited photo of his penis along with a series of graphic messages.
She would have been taken aback and offended by the content she had grudgingly received.
Vice-captain Pat Cummings is expected to be named Paine’s successor and new Australia Test cricket captain, pending approval from the Cricket Australia Board.
