Perched 30 meters high, Claude Pasquet is a happy working woman. Contacted by the 6ter channel, she is on your television screens this Thursday, June 23 at 9 p.m. to present her “atypical” job as a crane operator in a documentary series entitled “Les Reines du site”.
This is an opportunity to give more visibility to this work, which is very accessible to women.
For six episodes, this TNT channel has decided to highlight six women exercising a profession often – in the collective unconscious – attributed to men. “This is an opportunity to give more visibility to this work, which is very accessible to women”, assures this 45-year-old Plumelinoise.
To buckle the buckle
In the air for fourteen years, this mother of two children has not always “worked in socks” with the void as a backdrop. “I was a beautician for seven years, and before that I worked in the hotel industry”. But how did it come to move loads of several tons in the sky of Morbihan? “I was looking for a way to make a better living. As a beautician, I had a hard time getting a decent salary”. It was then that a friend showed him a report on what would be his new future job: crane operator. “My partner is in construction, I’ve always liked this environment so I tried. By participating in this show, it’s the way to close the loop, ”she explains in a smiling voice.
First on the ground, then 30 meters high
With the Certificate of Aptitude for Safe Machine Driving (Caces) in her pocket, she then began her new career, first from dry land. “At the beginning, we take control of a crane with a remote control while remaining on the ground. It takes a few years before you can hope to climb up there. You have to be patient because the job is difficult. Over the course of the projects and the advice given by his colleagues, Claude made a name for himself and found himself at the helm.
It pitches like a boat at this height!
“The first time I sat in the cabin, I was scared. It’s impressive, it pitches like a boat at this height! “Today, the Morbihannaise does not regret her choice: “I like to build things. In addition, this work is useful, with heavy responsibilities. The icing on the cake, this gardening lover enjoys working alone. “Of course, I am in contact with the ground crews who guide me. But up there, I like being alone. I can enjoy the view”.
The construction of the RCV training center
This Thursday evening, Claude will offer an immersion in his daily life during the construction of the RCV training center at the Jo Courtel stadium, in Vannes. “It’s not the most beautiful landscape,” she laughs. And for those who hesitate to take the plunge, the crane operator wishes to reassure them: “As a mother, my priority remains my children. Thanks to this work, I can be present for them while earning a good living, without going too far away. If I can create a few vocations, it will be won! “.
