They certainly lost the European Champions League final this Sunday evening in Budapest after their heroic victory in the semi-final the day before. But reaching this level is an unprecedented feat.
About a hundred people welcomed the players of Brest Bretagne Handball, at Brest Bretagne airport in Guipavas, shortly before 6 p.m., then 400 in front of the town hall, where they arrived around 7:25 p.m., by double-decker bus. They were also able to present their two national trophies for this month of May, the Coupe de France and the title of champions of France. The mayor, François Cuillandre, presented the city medal to Laurent Bezaud, the departing coach.
Songs, dance, fog horns, photos, bursts of laughter punctuated this almost summery start to the evening. Enough to end an exceptional season on a high note.
