The comedian applauds after George Santos’ complaint: “My pathological liar character can’t stand up to you!”

A comedian has applauded Congressman George Santos after the New York Republican complained that comedians appeared on late-night talk shows to poke fun at him after he was caught up in a litany of lies.

“I’ve made late night TV history now with all of these impersonations, but they’ve all been TERRIBLE so far. Jon Lovitz is supposed to be one of the greatest comedians of all time and that’s was embarrassing – for him not for me! These comedians need to step up their game,” Santos said tweeted Monday evening.

“Finally!!! You are being honest about something!!!” Mr. Lovitz replied on Twitter.

“Thank you for the opinion and advice! You’re right! I need to step up my game! My pathological liar character can’t stand up to you! added the comedian. Mr. Lovitz appeared on The show tonight like Mr. Santos, joking that he was in New York to “get my Nobel Peace Prize”.

Harvey Guillén of What we do in the shadows appeared on The late show on CBS as Mr. Santos, jokingly claiming to have been on the show five times and to have been the leader of the group on the show.

At Jimmy Kimmel live on ABC, Nelson Franklin posed as Mr Santos, saying it made sense he was appointed to the House Science, Space and Technology Committee because he was the “first openly gay Republican Latino to walk on the moon”.

Bowen Yang took on the role of Mr. Santos on Saturday Night Live on NBC, saying “I’m proud to be the first African-American quarterback to dunk a football”.

The late-night mockery of Mr Santos comes as new footage from a Brazilian podcast interview has revealed Mr Santos claims he was the target of an assassination plot and was robbed on Fifth Avenue.

The congressman, who has been caught up in a number of lies, including falsifying his resume, told Brazilian podcast Radio Novela Apresenta on December 7 that his home was vandalized in January 2021 because he was a Republican.

“I’m going to a New Years party with my husband. We’re going back to our house, it was vandalized because we were at a Republican party in Florida in December 2020,” Mr Santos says in a clip posted by The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC.

Video emerges of George Santos claiming he is the victim of attempted murder

“So that’s it. I lived vandalism, “he adds, according to the translation. “We have already suffered an attempt on my life, an assassination attempt, a threatening letter, having to have the police, a police escort standing in front of our house.”

Mr Santos went on to claim that in the summer of 2021 he was robbed on Fifth Avenue.

“I was attacked by two men. Before I asked questions, they weren’t black, they were even white, but they robbed me, took my briefcase, took my shoes and my watch. And that was in broad daylight. It was 3 p.m., I was leaving my office, I was going to the garage, I was getting my car and I was assaulted, ”he says in the images.
