SALADO, Texas (KXAN) — A Central Texas Volunteer Fire Department is asking people to keep an eye out for rattlesnakes after it says a family found several in a pool noodle.
“When someone picked up one of his pool noodles, a large rattlesnake fell out. And they later realized that several baby snakes were still inside,” a message from the volunteer fire department said. by Salado.
The department noted that with rising temperatures, it is common for snakes to seek dark, cool spaces to hide during the day. They recommended keeping pool toys elevated or sealed if you keep them outside.
The department said if a snake bites you, stay calm and get to the hospital as soon as possible. Be able to describe the snake to the hospital staff as best you can.
They say don’t try to cut the wound, suck the venom, or try to capture the snake.
“Make sure you stay safe this summer and check your pool noodles just in case!” they said.
KXAN has contacted the Salado Volunteer Fire Department for more information on this incident and will update this article when we get back to you.
