Tanzania Prisons 1-1 Yanga SC: Timu ya Wananchi fights to keep his unbeaten one

Azam FC also scored three minutes from time to get maximum points against Polisi Tanzania

Young Africans (Yanga SC) had to dig deep to settle for a 1-1 draw with their hosts Tanzania Prisons in a Tanzania Mainland League game played on Thursday night.

Jumanne Fadhili scored for the administrative side before debutant Saidi Ntibazonkiza leveled things off.

The Jangwani Street-based charges entered the game as favorites due to their strong first leg record. However, they weren’t going to find it easy against their hosts who were among the four teams who had managed to get a point from Wananchi in the first round.

This explains why the two teams were satisfied with a goalless score in the first half.

After the break, the prisons picked up their pace and managed to secure a deserved first game in the 52nd minute thanks to Jumanne Fadhili. It was a reward for their good play.

Timu ya Wananchi struggled to secure clear chances against an organized prison team. But their resilience to keep their unbeaten track paid off in the 78th minute.

Burundian international Saidi Ntibazonkiza, who was making his debut, broke the hearts of home fans with a timely equalizer. It was the goal that brought Yanga’s points total to 44 from the 18 games played.

After obtaining the point, the Tanzanian prisons moved up to ninth position with 22 points.

In another league match, 2014 champion Azam FC scored with three minutes remaining to get the maximum points against host Polisi Tanzania.

The glaciers experienced an inconsistent first round which led to the dismissal of their Romanian coach Aristica Cioaba. George Lwandamina was brought in to save the apparently sinking ship and it seems he is successful in doing so.

A trip to Polisi in Tanzania was not going to be easy and it looked like the spoils would be shared. However, in the 87th minute, Ismail Aziz scored a goal of the utmost importance to give the maximum points to the charges based on Chamazi.

Finally, Coastal Union and Namungo FC drew 1-1.

Iddi Kipagawile scored the first in favor of the visitors in the 10th minute. It was the only goal of the first half.

Rashid Mohamed managed to equalize with 15 minutes from the finish and make sure the points are shared.
