Security preparations are underway in Lugano, southern Switzerland, ahead of the Ukraine Recovery Conference which begins on Monday.
Leaders from dozens of countries and international organizations will discuss the war-torn country’s post-war reconstruction.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday that EU membership was “within reach” for Ukraine.
“Your European path and the rebuilding of the country will go hand in hand,” von der Leyen said, “Ukraine will be in the lead. Massive investments will have to come, but to maximize their impact and foster business confidence, investments need to be made. accompanied by a new wave of reforms.”
Conference discussions will focus on reconstruction and development, as well as contributions from international partners.
It is planned to take place over two days.
