The first Sunday night soccer game of the season features a pair of teams with new QBs – at least, new to them. Matthew Stafford and Andy Dalton are certainly not new everyday fantasy football players, but with both now under the guidance of young, attacking-minded coaches, there is new hope that they can continue to improve. (or a hope that Dalton will pass out quickly so the Bears can fit rookie Justin Fields into their roster). Vegas sportsbook opened the Rams as a 6.5-point favorites with an over / under set at 43.5, suggesting the score could be bigger than one would expect in the Rams games. It’s not what everyone wants for an NFL DFS single game competition, but with both teams still showcasing top talent, we’ve managed to put together what could be a lineup of Relatively high DraftKings Showdown.
Before we get into our picks, here are the most notable scoring quirks from DraftKings Showdowns: PPR full point, and there is three-point bonus for 300 passing yards, 100 rushing yards and 100 receiving yards. Choosing the captain costs 1.5 times a player’s original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.

DraftKings Showdown Pick: Bears vs. Rams
Budget of $ 50,000, need at least one player from each team.
Captain (1.5x value, 1.5x points): RB David Montgomery, Bears ($ 12,600)
Montgomery will be used as both a runner and a receiver as he caught 54 passes and had five or more targets seven times in 2020. We don’t necessarily expect him to immediately regain his pace from last season when ‘he’s eclipsed 27 DraftKings points in five of his last six games, but we love his projected workload and his chances of keeping pace with the fantastic scoring.

FLEX: QB Matthew Stafford, Rams ($ 11,600)
There are too many weapons at Stafford’s disposal to expect him to fail in this game as a home favorite. It doesn’t hurt that in the absence of a real No.1 back, head coach Sean McVay might ask a little more of his new flagman. Chicago’s revamped defense, however, poses enough of a threat that we’re not prepared to pay the premium to make him captain.
LINEUPS MNF DFS: DraftKings | FanDuel
FLEX: WR Allen Robinson, Bear ($ 10,200)
A date with Jalen Ramsey is the opposite of a favorable game, but sometimes talent and volume take precedence in our decision-making process. Plus, sometimes in DFS going against the grain is exactly how you win big in contests. Robinson has accounted for 26.2% of the Bears’ goals since 2019, and it’s not like Chicago brought in a pass catcher that’s going to change that trend. If you can’t bring yourself to bet against Ramsey, Robert Woods ($ 9,000) locks in what will likely be the Rams’ two busiest pass catchers.
MORE SNF: Darnell Mooney Injury Update
FLEX: WR Cooper Kupp, rams ($ 8,800)
We’re looking for the Rams’ WR1, a title Kupp and Woods will share and trade each week. Kupp gets our first bet on the strength of owning a double-digit touchdown season (2019). With a compromised running back body, it’s no exaggeration to suggest that the Rams will rely more on their wide receivers this week (and this season).
FLEX: K Matt Gay, Rams ($ 3,600)
Don’t hesitate to turn to Sony Michel ($ 4,800) if you’re upbeat about his Week 1 role. However, if the Los Angeles backfield has too much uncertainty (and not enough assists) for your liking. Gay is not a bad choice given the implications of Las Vegas betting odds. If the Rams are going to comfortably win a relatively weak defensive battle, it won’t be a surprise to see the kicking play play a big part in the action.
FLEX: WR DeSean Jackson, Rams ($ 1,400)
Even at 34, Jackson can instill fear in coordinators and defenses. Jackson brings an element of boom or bust to our roster as we’re betting on a long-range strike, but Week 1 – when he’s at his peak health – is the best time to roll the dice with him. Kupp and Woods will grab the Bears’ defensive attention, perhaps allowing Jackson to free himself for one or two high-quality deep targets.
