Strictly Come Dancing 2021: Week One – Live | Television and radio
Tonight’s Strictly Come Bingo – Grab a drink from your hard-to-win can of Premium Unleaded if you spot any of the following:
Anton saying ‘wonderful’
Craig saying ‘made of wood’
Song choices that make an indirect and tenuous reference to the celebrity’s profession.
A celebrity who crushed him in week one, got eight, canceled any potential trips, and made sure he didn’t win despite being obviously the best dancer.
On the bright side, my live blogging support team for the night is Elizabeth (12 years old), Genevieve (8 years old) and Rhiannon (5 years old), who I hope will add some young zest to my weary Middle-aged ramblings.
And as an added bonus, the father of these fabulous girls is Richard The Builder from Bake Off 2014, so the variety of snacks tonight is exceptional. I could put some photos on Twitter later; you can find me at @heidistephens.
By the way, tonight’s live blog comes to you from a friend’s house in West Sussex, so instead of my usual monastic isolation, I’m in the company of two adults, three children, and a dog named Steve. If you have any suggestions for a more chaotic environment that is less conducive to watching TV and writing at the same time, feel free to challenge me for a week to come. An A&E waiting room, perhaps, or the middle lane of the M6.
Good evening everyone and welcome to this week’s Strictly Come Dancing! It’s officially Week One, which means we get to see our newly formed couples properly strutting on the dance floor Strictly for the first time. There will be scores from the judges, but no one is going home this weekend; all scores will carry over to the next week. Therefore, it is worth it for our celebrities to do their best, but it is not necessary for them to overdo it and turn the ankle; they are safe for at least one more week.
As usual, I’ll be sprinkling glitter on the procedures here, and would be delighted if you added a little more ingenuity and wisdom in the comment box below. This live blog is very much a team effort, so get involved. Kick-off is at 7pm, and tonight’s show runs for two hours and 20 minutes (eek), so stock up on plenty of snacks and drinks. I see you in a while!
