Sports : Terrance McKinney lands brilliant seven-second KO on UFC debut

sport breaking news

The first knockout of UFC 263 came courtesy of UFC debutant Terrance McKinney.

‘T-Wrecks’ took on Matt Frevola on the early prelims and the 26 year old McKinney landed a knockout with a fantastic straight left in just seven seconds left.

Terrance McKinney had a sensational UFC debut

McKinney was understandably delighted with the result but in his excitement, he scaled the octagon and jumped back, injuring himself in the process.

Check out the video of the knockout and subsequent celebrations below:

McKinney fell just short of breaking Jorge Masvidal’s record of fastest knockout in UFC history, which is of course just five seconds.

The American appeared to twist an ankle on his landing and he needed helping out of the octagon.

The lightweight is now 11-3 with four wins in a row, but he has quite an incredible story before even reaching a UFC octagon.

The celebrations didn’t last long!

The celebrations didn’t last long!

He made his MMA debut back in 2017, but back in 2014 he died twice after being tasered by police following a bad mix of alcohol and drugs – shrooms, to be precise.

“I ended up seeing demons, I was very incoherent, I was pretty much out of my mind,” McKinney said. “When they tried to engage me I started going crazy so they had to tase me, like multiple tases, I ate it like it was nothing.

“They finally got me down and was able to restrain me and get me to the hospital and that’s where I ended up dying twice. I didn’t even know I died, that was the scariest part. It really just made me settle down and think, ‘Is this what I want, or do I want something better?’”

Now McKinney has just exploded onto the scene in UFC and that’s his fourth first round knockout in a row. Many consider 155lbs one of the most exciting and stacked divisions in UFC anyway and McKinney is another explosive option.

McKinney’s medical status is unknown at present, but commentary speculated that he had a twisted ankle. He was able to stand and have his hand raised after the fight, at least.
