It’s do or die for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United this season as far as Ray Parlour is concerned.
The Red Devils made great progress last term, however, the campaign ended in disappointment as they were beaten by Villarreal in the Europa League final.
It means Man United have gone over four years without winning a trophy and Parlour believes this season is Solskjaer’s final chance to win silverware as Red Devils manager.
United are going the right way about things in their bid to improve – the signing of Jadon Sancho will be announced at any moment, while they’ve also been heavily linked with Raphael Varane and Kieran Trippier.
Club legend Wayne Rooney believes they have a ‘good shot’ at winning their first Premier League title outside of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.
Solskjaer knows all about the expectations at Old Trafford, says Parlour, who believes the Norwegian will walk if he fails to deliver silverware.
“He’s under pressure… he knows that though,” Parlour told talkSPORT Breakfast.
“He’s a realistic man and he’s been in great dressing rooms that were very successful under Sir Alex Ferguson.
“He knows exactly what Manchester United is all about, he knows the expectation around the world – the support they have is unbelievable, probably the best around the world of the Premier League.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs every help he can get and he’s getting good quality players in which gives him a good chance of winning trophies.
“But if he doesn’t win trophies and they have a poor season, I’m sure Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s going to be the first to admit it hasn’t worked and will move on.”
