Coincidence? We think not.

Chelsea have finally set a date for their Champions League trophy parade – and it just so happens arch-rivals Tottenham will be there too.

Chelsea fans will be reunited with the famous cup

In normal circumstances, the Blues would’ve shown off the big-eared cup to thousands of fans on an open-top bus down London’s Kings Road.

COVID-19 restrictions meant that wasn’t possible, but now they’ve been relaxed, Chelsea are expecting a near-full house at Stamford Bridge for the pre-season friendly against Spurs on August 4.

Which gives them the perfect opportunity to celebrate their incredible success in front of Tottenham – and the Blues faithful, of course.

Chelsea said: “At the match at Stamford Bridge, the Champions League trophy will be paraded for the first time since the glorious night in Porto back in May.”

The game takes place as part of the Mind Series, a mini-tournament also involving Arsenal, with all proceeds going to charity.

Chelsea got their preparations for the new campaign under way by thrashing Peterborough 6-1 in a friendly at Cobham on Saturday.

Hakim Ziyech grabbed a hat-trick, while Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja also found the net.

With numerous players reaching the knockout stages of Euro 2020 and still on their three-week break, there will be no shortage of fringe players hoping to impress Thomas Tuchel in pre-season.
