Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game before half-time, which was enough for the club to claim their second Champions League crown.

Thousands of fans have been pictured outside Stamford Bridge amid the wild party scenes.

Since Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003, he has handed out 17 trophies, including five Premier League titles and now two Champions Leagues.

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino praised the Russian billionaire for his ruthless drive to want the best for the club.

“They have the best decision owner that has ever existed,” Cascarino told Weekend Sports Breakfast. “Maybe it’s not just Roman, because he has a team around him.

“He chooses and when he sees a manager doing well, he sacks him because he thinks that good is not the standard of his football club.

“He thinks’ I’m paying this amount on wages and this amount on transfer fees, I expect it to be difficult for the first and second.” The second might be a failure for him and you could go. Abramovich is a very astute man.

The man who scored the second Champions League success is Thomas Tuchel, who only met Abramovich for the first time on the pitch at Estadio do Dragao.

He signed an 18-month contract when he arrived in January, but is now aiming for a new contract.

When asked if he would be able to extend his stay, Tuchel replied, “I’m not even 100% sure, but I might have a new contract now.

“So let’s check that out first. I spoke to the owner at the moment in the field, it was the best time for a first meeting. Or the worst, because now it can only get worse!

Cascarino also recalled former owner Ken Bates saying the club planned to be the biggest in London, which has almost certainly been achieved.

“I laughed to be with Ken Bates and a few players and him showing us the Stamford Bridge design in 92/93 thinking this guy is on another planet,” Cascarino added.

“He speaks saying Chelsea can become the biggest club in London. He also said “it might not be with me, but Chelsea can become the biggest club in London”.

“I think it’s hard to debate their success over the past decade, these are certainly the accomplishments he spoke of have been served. They did it.

“It’s brilliantly managed. If you think of Chelsea as a football club. All clubs need money to be successful.

“You go back to Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle and you did it with a lot of money. I got promoted with Millwall and it was the most spent that year.

“Money is extremely important for football clubs. “
