Thomas Frank is paying no attention to Brentford’s opening Premier League fixtures – but has admitted seeing them announced has made their top-flight status seem ‘real’.

The fixtures for the new 2021/22 campaign were announced on Wednesday and there are some mouthwatering opening day clashes.

The Bees will mark their first season in the Premier League with a home match against Arsenal on August 14.

The Championship play-off winners, who have not played in the top flight since the 1946/47 season, then travel to Crystal Palace in their first away game on August 21.

A home clash against west London rivals Chelsea takes place October 16 before the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge is on April 2.

Frank, however, is paying no attention to the fixtures and is merely excited his side are partaking in what many believe is football’s most competitive league.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “I don’t care about who we’re facing in the first game to be honest!

“We look forward to playing in the best league in the world with some of the best teams in the world.

“Of course Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world, which is crazy. I really, really hope for full capacity because I can’t wait for all our fans to be back in the new stadium.”

Frank admitted seeing Brentford on the Premier League fixtures this morning made it all a bit more real

He added: “Since we got promoted, which was an unbelievable feeling, it’s been a couple weeks and we’ve tried to relax and get some holiday.

“There’s also been some work with transfers and stuff like that, but when you do that it’s just normal.

“But whether it’s a player from Championship or Premier League it doesn’t matter but this morning was the first sign that it was real. We are actually in the Premier League.”
