Sports : Andy Ruiz Jr reveals DM exchange with Eddie Hearn about Anthony Joshua trilogy after Tyson Fury fight collapse

sport breaking news

Andy Ruiz Jr has once again DMd Eddie Hearn asking for a fight with Anthony Joshua.

Back in 2019, AJ was scheduled to face Jarrell Miller in New York, but the American failed multiple drug tests and so lost out.

After hearing this news, Ruiz Jr famously messaged AJ’s promoter Hearn and asked him for the opportunity.

His campaign was successful and he went on to floor the Brit four times and take his titles in an historic upset at MSG.

In their rematch six months later, Joshua comprehensively outboxed Ruiz Jr and regained his belts.

The Mexican-American returned to the ring with a win over Chris Arreola at the start of last month.

AJ was seemingly headed for an undisputed clash with British rival Tyson Fury but this collapsed midway through May.

Ruiz Jr saw an opportunity once again.

He explained on the Hotboxin’ Podcast: “I messaged Eddie Hearn.

“I told him, ‘Hey, what’s up with the trilogy, me and Anthony Joshua?’

“The only thing he wrote was worried faces and, ‘Deja vu.’”

Hearn confirmed the exchange to iFL TV previously and said: “There’s quite a few [options].

“If you’re going to America, he’s already messaged me, it’s like deja vu, Andy Ruiz.

“He messaged me on Instagram and said, ‘I’m ready, let’s do this, AJ v Ruiz III.’”

Unfortunately for Ruiz Jr though, Joshua looks set to face WBO mandatory Oleksandr Usyk instead – with the bout targeted for September 18 or 25 in London.
