Southampton are eyeing Lorient striker Terem Moffi and could recall Jan Bednarek from his loan spell at Aston Villa, according to talkSPORT.
Saints have dropped to the bottom of the Premier League table after a 3-1 loss to Brighton on Tuesday.
New manager Nathan Jones’ side are desperate for more firepower to help them climb the table, having scored just 14 goals in 16 games.
In context, only West Ham, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Wolves have a worse return in front of goal this campaign.
And now it is understood that Lorient striker Moffi is the man Southampton could turn to.
The south coast club are believed to be keen to strike a deal soon as there is a lot of interest in the Nigeria international.
The 23-year-old is enjoying a fine campaign in Ligue 1 and is currently third in the goalscoring charts with 10 appearances in 14 appearances so far.
Moffi has proven essential for Lorient in helping propel them to the top of the Ligue 1 table.
The French club were second in October but then fell to seventh after a five-match winless streak.
Southampton, meanwhile, are set to recall Polish centre-back Bednarek from Aston Villa.
Funds are tight, but the Saints know they need more defensive bodies for the second half of the season.
The 26-year-old has only played twice for Aston Villa and is mostly on the substitutes.
Bednarek would surely bring much-needed experience and stability to bolster the Saint’s back four as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.
