BEIJING (Sputnik) – The situation on the China-India border is stable after clashes between troops in the border area last week, with the sides in contact through military and diplomatic channels, the ministry spokesperson said on Tuesday. Chinese Foreign Wang Wenbin.
“The situation on the China-India border is generally stable, the parties are still in unhindered contact on border issues through diplomatic and military channels,” Wang said at a press briefing.
The spokesperson expressed his hope that India will further respect the agreements with China on their common border and safeguard peace in this region with Beijing.
This is the first serious escalation between India and China in the Himalayas since the May 2020 clash, when India reported 20 soldiers killed and China four soldiers killed.
