Simon Jordan highlights irony of all Manchester United fans celebrating Qatari takeover amid Middle Eastern possessions of Man City and Newcastle
Simon Jordan has ridiculed all Manchester United fans celebrating the prospect of a Qatari takeover of the club.
talkSPORT understands Qatari investors are planning a mega-money transfer for the Red Devils, with the club valued at £6bn by the Glazers.

However, talkSPORT understands a deal is nowhere near complete and would require Premier League approval while Qatar’s human rights record would see opposition to the takeover.
That hasn’t stopped sections of the United fanbase from celebrating a potential purchase of the club due to the unpopularity of the club’s current ownership.
And Jordan couldn’t help but laugh at the sheer irony on display with some United supporters beating Manchester City and Newcastle amid their Middle Eastern owners.
The former Crystal Palace chief told Jim White: “They won’t be able to have any more conversations about Manchester City ownership or Newcastle ownership.
“If they get a wealthy Middle East-based consortium, all the vitriol that United fans have undoubtedly been part of will have to be dropped.
“There is an irony, isn’t there? “We want our club to come back.” No, you don’t.

“You don’t want your club back, you want someone to come through the door and give you precisely what you want.
“And that’s a version of getting your football club back.
“We understand, I understand, more than anyone, that sport is a business. But when states own football clubs, it’s no big deal. This is another thing.
“It’s not an investment policy, it’s an influence policy.
“It’s a very different direction from someone saying ‘I want to play sports’ like I did or ‘I want to play sports because I want to make some money out of it’.
“The ones you can accept more easily than someone who says ‘I want to be involved in sports because I want to take advantage of a particular country’s major asset and use it as an influencer’.”

The Glazers have reportedly demanded a deadline for offers for the club by the end of the month, with US investment firm Raine Group hired to offer financial advice during the deal.
The US-based company was also Roman Abramovich’s preferred banker when he sold Chelsea to LA Dodgers owner Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital last summer.
As well as interest from Qatar, Britain’s richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, has also expressed his desire to buy United, his boyhood club as a fan.
