The US-born Zimbabwean has completed her transfer to Finland-based training, with her transfer taking effect from mid-January.
Ruvimbo Mucherera has joined Finnish company Naisten Liiga KuPS for a one-year contract, starting in January 2021.
The US-born Zimbabwean forward has parted ways with Lithuanian champion Gintra Universitetas and played for Rimantė Jonusaite’s side, including in the women’s squad Champions League.
The 24-year-old, born in Oviedo, USA, started at the University of North Carolina before signing her first professional contract with Gintra in the summer of 2020.
Commenting on his signing, team head coach Ollipekka Ojala told the club website: “Our manager Vesa Kauppila has done a lot of work in the mapping of players and as a result of this work we have attached a player to the team who with his strength can make us even more dangerous in the offensive direction and bring more speed to our line of defense.
“We wanted a player who can also play a little higher when needed and who has the ability to lead a team during games.
“He comes from a top university team and already has some playing experience in Europe, so we believe he will adapt quickly to our operating environment.”
Celebrating her move, she reflected on her short time at Gintra and can’t wait to excel in her new adventure in Finland.
“In Lithuania the team were good and it was my first professional contract so I didn’t know what to expect,” she told the club.
“But in the end it was a wonderful experience and I’m grateful to the club for the time and the opportunity that there is.
“I have now chosen the Kuopio Ball Club because I want to reach the highest level in football and I believe this agreement will help me achieve my goals.
“I’m excited about the coming season and the team reunion. I hope I can help the team win the championship next season no matter what and I will do my best in front of the team.”
After a brief stint in Lithuania, Mucherera hopes to raise her profile in Finland when she joins her teammates in January for the new season.
