Russian forces launched a new series of missiles towards Ukraine on Monday, stepping up attacks on the country’s central and southeastern regions.

“We see that strategic bombers have taken off and the first wave of missiles has already been launched,” said Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian air force, adding that there could be several more assaults. .

The deadly strikes killed at least one person in the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih and at least two people in Zaporizhzhia, according to local authorities.

Air defense systems in the capital, Kyiv, are also “working” due to the “movement of missiles to the area”, according to military official Oleksii Kuleba.
