Roy Hodgson returns to lead Crystal Palace training on Tuesday with some extremely positive news.

The 76-year-old missed the weekend’s clash against Aston Villa after falling ill earlier on Saturday.

Saturday’s statement said: “Unfortunately Roy Hodgson was taken ill earlier today and is not at Villa Park.

“Roy is in contact with Paddy McCarthy, who will take the team today assisted by Ray Lewington.

“Roy sent his best wishes to the team before the game. We send our best wishes to Roy.”

However, Hodgson has been declared fit to return, with the club also confirming he will be in the dugout for the clash with Fulham this weekend.

Hodgson came out of retirement to steer Palace away from the threat of relegation in the 2022/23 season.

He then signed a one-year extension to manage the Eagles for the 2023/24 campaign.

Palace currently sit ninth in the Premier League despite losing 3-1 to Aston Villa at the weekend.
