Roger Waters releases an ominous new version of the Pink Floyd classic “Comfortably Numb”

Roger Waters has just released a haunting new version of “Comfortably Numb,” from Pink Floyd’s landmark 1979 album “The Wall.”

Although the track is a classic rock radio staple, fans might not recognize this one right away.

“I took it down a whole step, in A minor, to make it darker and arranged it without a solo, except on the outro, where there is a heartbreakingly beautiful vocal solo from A minor. ‘one of our new sisters Shanay Johnson,’ he wrote on YouTube, referring to one of the singers on his ‘This Is Not A Drill’ tour.

This version of “Comfortably Numb” was the opening number throughout the tour, and the visuals appear on video screens that start onstage but rise above at the end of the song:

“This Is Not A Drill” wrapped its North American portion last month and resumes in the spring in Europe.
