The 68-year-old man decided to stay at the bedside of his wife, Judy Bowness, who had an epileptic seizure on Sunday evening. She is currently in the hospital to find out the causes of this episode.

Associate coach Scott Arniel will take over as interim coach behind the Jets bench. Bowness has been at the helm of Winnipeg since July 2022. Last year, his team went 46-33-3 and made the playoffs. They saw their journey end in five games against the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round.

In five games so far in 2023-24, the Manitoba club has maintained a 2-3-0 record. The Jets will host the St. Louis Blues at the Canada Life Center on Tuesday evening. They will then be on the road for two games, against the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday and the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.
