Pradeep Kharola, CMD of ITPO, highlighted the importance of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, acknowledging India’s untapped potential in this area.
The renovated India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) complex at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi has become a landmark, boasting impressive size and top-notch facilities, ITPO CMD Pradeep Kharola said. . It was chosen to host the prestigious G20 summit.
In particular, it can accommodate gatherings of up to 7,000 participants, making it an ideal location for large conferences. With a total of 20 meeting rooms, ranging in capacity from 50 to 200 people, the resort offers versatile space for various gatherings. Additionally, the 2nd floor is exclusively dedicated to the G20 summit, ensuring that all necessary facilities are in place for this high-profile event.
Kharola highlighted the importance of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, acknowledging India’s untapped potential in this field. Currently, India’s share of MICE tourism is relatively small, but Kharola believes that by hosting large-scale exhibitions and conventions, India can rightfully claim its position in the global MICE market.
The complex also includes four amphitheaters with significant capacities, making it an ideal place to host major cultural events.
In order to ensure the financial sustainability of the ITPO complex, the CMD has expressed the intention of involving the private sector in the holding of the conventions. Kharola said it has already received a promising number of inquiries and bookings, indicating the potential for success of this venture.
As the ITPO prepares to market and manage the complex, Kharola stressed the need for innovative management strategies to maximize its potential as a hub for international events and conventions.
