After the revelation of declassified American information reporting several hundred million euros paid by Russia in several countries, eight Renaissance deputies asked for the opening of a commission of inquiry at the National Assembly on possible “Russian funding” of French parties.

It is, they detail, “to know whether French political parties – and which ones – have benefited from Russian funding”. They quote “positions taken in favor of Russia by several leading French political leaders”as well as “loans contracted to finance electoral campaigns and whose sums are still due many years later” or “the appointment within Russian companies of former French parliamentarians and ministers”.

On Friday, the National Rally (RN), which denies the majority’s accusations of depending on Russian power, also announced that it would table a resolution on Monday to create a commission of inquiry in the Assembly.
